Large association PACs are poised to shrink in latest cycle

Groups devote millions more to ad campaigns supporting or opposing candidates; some create Super PACs to raise and spend. Just days before the midterm election, the latest political action committee reports from associations filed to the Federal Election Commission point to a possible slowdown in spending, compared to the last election. By October two years ago, 14 of the top 25 association PACs had already outspent their previous two-year cycle, with six more within 10 percent of that figure.
